I’m thinking that my stockpile of goodies needs to be a little more closely tracked. Since the week after Christmas last year, I’ve been gathering things a bit at a time for gifting. I picked up a few things on insanely cheap clearance at Wal-Mart. I’ve received new items in the mail such as books to review, products to test, free DVDs and games for the children, Vocal Point coupons for free stuff, etc.
As I acquired all of these goodies, I separated them and put them in a box in my closet. I didn’t track what I had on hand, because I have so many people in my life, I knew everything would find a good home. Bit by bit, my little pile of stuff grew.
We pulled all of the boxes and bags out of my closet about a week ago and started to sort them. I am THRILLED at the treasure trove of gifts I was able to find at such low prices. I sorted everything into separate boxes (5 boxes of stuff!) and will be wrapping everything up soon. It’ll be fun to be Santa, even if the gifts themselves are simple.
I thought I was all set, except for the things I find really great deals on (read: free) between now and our Christmas, but I got a nice surprise last night when Mark brought in all of the bags of STUFF he cleaned out from my old van during the trade-in.
In one of the bags was an obscenely large bottle of Giorgio Red for Women that was given to me, but not the right scent for me. I had been meaning to take out of the van and re-gift it for Christmas for over a year now. From under the seats, Mark found several other small items that I’d stock piled for goodie baskets for Christmas for the last several months. It was like getting something for free all over again because I completely forgot that I got them (for free, from CVS… of course).
I really like this version of shopping. Little by little, as the fabulous deals come up. I think I’ll try it again next year.
