Momma’s Favorites – What are you reading?

Posted by idawrites on July 16, 2008 in Frugal Tips, Link Love, Planning |

There are TOO MANY starred entries in my feed reader.  I don’t even know where to start!  But, here are a few of my favorites from the last week.  This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it’s a good start.

Can I get Rich On A Salary says: If I were a rich man…  I’ve always been fascinated by the stories of people who hit it big financially and then end up broke or in bankruptcy.  As someone who came from very below poverty level beginnings, the first thing I’d do with a financial windfall is to sock most of it into savings and investments.

The Simple Dollar shares: The One Skill That Will Earn You Money, No Matter What You Do.  Trent makes very valid points about the importance of good communications skills, no matter what your job or where you fall in the economic spectrum.  Trent also shared a guest post from one of his readers, Mindy, all about Undermining Your Frugality that I really related to.  I’m sure that many of you will too.

Wise Bread gave us a few of the great tips from The Frugal Duchess of South Beach: How to Live Well and Save Money … Anywhere.  I’m really digging these tips and have just added her blog to my reader!

In the Making You Think category, The Wisdom Journal asks: What Will Your Children Inherit From You? 10 Hard Questions to Ask Yourself

One of my favorite posts from this week was from Marc and Angel.  They listed 101 Dirt Cheap Ways to Enjoy Yourself.  I already do a few of them, but got some fabulous ideas as well.  Give it a look.

And finally, at the very top of my list, JD over at Get Rich Slowly shared recipes for Easy and Cheap Home-made Bread.  I LOVE homemade bread.  I enjoy cooking from scratch, and the taste of homemade bread is just unbeatable.  I can’t wait to try this recipe.

I’d love it if you’d share your favorite post(s) from this week.  It doesn’t have to be about finance.  😉 Gardening would be a plus!
